Extra Curricular Design Activities

Brian is heavily involved in improving the local design scene.

In 2003, he was involved in the mentoring of young secondary school design talents in the Many Ways of Seeing Project.

From 2004 to 2005 he has been invited by the Singapore Government to give a talk on “Getting Started in Design: Designing In-House vs. Design Consultants” to industry guest, as well as being apart of a panel of speakers at the “Design or Resign” forum 2004 in Singapore.

In 2004 he spearheaded a close collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS) in developing conceptual Home Entertainment Systems of the future. Aptly called “Sound Visions”, one of the projects under his guidance and the lecturer in charge was awarded an IF Concept Award 2006.

In 2005 he was invited to be a guest lecturer and curator for NUS’s entry into Milan’s Salone Satellite for 2006.

From 2008 to 2009, he was part of the organizing committee for the ICSID Word Design Congress held in Singapore. He was the Chairman for the Special Operations Sub Committee responsible for social media strategy, online sponsorship and networking, and creative direction of the congress booth.
